The transportation sector remains the king of Missouri exporting.
That’s according to a recent report from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center about the state’s 2018 exports.
Transportation equipment topped the list again, with Missouri selling more than $3.9 billion of transportation equipment abroad. The chemical industry ranked second with about $2.5 billion in international sales.
Missouri exports totaled $14.5 billion last year, and four industries exceeded $1 billion to account for almost two-thirds of all 2018 exports, according to the report.
Over half of Missouri’s export income came from three countries — Canada, Mexico and China.
Australia has seen the largest growth rate in terms of Missouri exports over the last 10 years, with an increase of 55.6 percent. Africa, Asia and South America all had declines over that same period.
