The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce will begin its search for a new president, following Jim Anderson’s announcement last week that he will be stepping down this summer.
Anderson took over in December 1987, following a stint as president of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce. Springfield Chamber Board Chairman Jeff Schrag said he and Anderson think it is the right time for a the transition.
“It is Jim’s feeling and it is my feeling that the chamber is perfectly poised to make a transition at this time, that we have the right staff in place, the right board in place, and the community’s in a really good place,” Schrag said.
Schrag said the chamber board will find Anderson’s successor in three steps. They will conduct a national search, use the services of a search consultant and have the board appoint a search committee. Casey says it is important news gets to individuals across the country, including those who are not actively seeking a new opportunity.
