The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and Think Big Partners, a Kansas City-based incubator for early-stage companies, will host the second annual iKC conference for entrepreneurs and innovators Oct. 3 at H&R Block World Headquarters in Kansas City.

The event, dubbed “iKC: The Unconference,” is part of the Chamber’s effort to make Kansas City the most entrepreneurial city in America, an objective established in 2011 as part of the group’s “Big 5” initiative.

iKC aims to help Kansas City overcome challenges that event organizers say are created by the key players in the city’s entrepreneurial scene being spread out geographically. iKC is billed as an opportunity for Kansas City’s corporations, entrepreneurs, innovators and investors to gather under one roof and network, exchange ideas and collaborate.

As an “unconference,” iKC will have an open format and allow attendees to submit topic ideas that will determine the agenda for the event. The schedule is expected to include a variety of short presentations, group discussions, “unpanels” and other sessions.

These sessions will be accompanied by one-on-one mentorship opportunities for individuals seeking business advice from expert advisors. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply for the mentorship program prior to the conference.

Tickets for iKC go on sale on August 1 and can be purchased on the event’s website.
