#StartupDay inspires social media tributes to entrepreneurs

Tuesday marked the fourth annual Startup Day Across America, an opportunity for members of Congress to “celebrate the ingenuity and entrepreneurship taking place right in their back-yards,” according to a website for the event.

The day, backed by a bipartisan group of lawmakers, is designed to encourage elected officials to connect with the startups and entrepreneurs they represent.

U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a Kansas City Democrat, called attention to the occasion with a post on his Twitter account:

Kansas City’s Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is a backer of the event and encouraged people to reach out to their representatives to talk about entrepreneurship.

Other organizations across the state also joined in the social media celebration of entrepreneurs and the companies they start:
