FastTrac NewVenture

9 a.m.-4 p.m. at University of Missouri-Kansas City, Volker Campus (4747 Troost Ave., Room 114, Kansas City)

In FastTrac NewVenture, a program of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City and brought to you by the UMKC SBTDC and University of Missouri Extension, you will look at all aspects of your proposed company, exploring the feasibility of your business concept and learning how to develop a viable business plan. Participants will learn about startup issues and learn to address the competition, legal matters, marketing and financial management aspects. FastTrac participants don’t just learn about business, they work on their own business endeavors throughout the course. This program is fast-paced and energizing, using guest speakers and lots of group breakout activities.

Exploring Entrepreneurship

5:30-7 p.m. at REDI (500 East Walnut, Suite 103, Columbia)

This offering will provide you with an overview of the critical first steps associated with starting a business. It is designed specifically for those who are thinking about a new business venture.

You’ll leave this class with tools for personal assessment, startup cost estimation, financial statements and sales projections. You’ll gain the basic knowledge to start a small business and be better able to make informed decisions.

Executive Connections is a sub-committee of the Small Business Committee and chaired during the 2013-2014 program year by Wayne Berry, Aquarius International. It’s designed to offer Chamber executives an opportunity to exchange ideas and solve problems. This structured form of networking is an effective way to analyze your firm and obtain ideas to run your business more efficiently. The program will develop a camaraderie that will allow honest feedback as well as provide encouragement and support to the individual.
