SBA Webinar 7(j) Lunch-n-Learn Series

Noon-4 p.m. at SBTDC – UMKC (4747 Troost Ave., Kansas City)

This is the discounted registration for the seven-webinar series for the SBA 7(j) program for businesses. Topics include government contracting and construction business management. Hosted by the UMKC SBTDC and MO PTAC, this lunch-and-learn federal contracting series will have SBA staff on site to assist and answer questions. All webinars in this series are provided by the SBA at no cost to the participant. Any fees incurred are for meals and administrative costs provided by the UMKC SBTDC and MO PTAC.

SBA Webinar: Intro to Construction Project Management

Noon-4 p.m. at SBTDC – UMKC (4747 Troost Ave., Kansas City)

This is a four-hour webinar presented by the SBA and held at the UMKC SBTDC. Lunch will be provided. Define the principals of Construction Project Management and Controls. Describe documentation techniques including definition of the information to be monitored and reported. Understand the definitions of key accounting procedures and forms, the importance of job cost accounting and why bonding is controlled by net worth. Hosted by the UMKC SBTDC and MO PTAC, this lunch-and-learn federal contracting series will have SBA staff on site to assist and answer questions. KC Small Business Networking

7:15-9 a.m. at The Board Room at Union Station (30 West Pershing Road, Kansas City)

This monthly networking breakfast for small businesses hosted by the KC Chamber typically is held on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:15-9 a.m. in the Chamber Board Room at Union Station. The breakfast is presented in collaboration with the Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board’s Small Business Committee and attended by approximately 80-120 small businesses each month. Following each breakfast is discussion on a topic of interest to small businesses.

FastTrac NewVenture

9 a.m.-4 p.m. at SBTDC – UMKC (4747 Troost Ave., Kansas City)

In FastTrac NewVenture, a program of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City and brought to you by the UMKC SBTDC and University of Missouri Extension, you will look at all aspects of your proposed company, exploring the feasibility of your business concept and learning how to develop a viable business plan. Participants will learn about startup issues and learn to address the competition, legal matters, marketing and financial management aspects. FastTrac participants don’t just learn about business, they work on their own business endeavors throughout the course. This program is fast-paced and energizing, using guest speakers and lots of group breakout activities.

TEDxKC

All day at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts (1601 Broadway Blvd., Kansas City)

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, selforganized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
