For the second time in five months, Ameren Missouri has announced plans to acquire power from a new wind farm in the state.
Ameren will get up to 157 megawatts from a wind farm being constructed in Atchison County in northwest Missouri, the St. Louis-based utility said Monday in a press release.
That follows Ameren’s May announcement of plans to construct a 175-turbine wind farm in northeast Missouri.
EDF Renewables North America will develop the Atchison County facility. It’s expected to be operational in 2020 and produce enough power for about 47,000 homes, according to the release.
The new wind farm is part of Ameren’s efforts to reduce its 2005 carbon output 80 percent by 2050, the company said.
