Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is in the process of developing his own cereal: “Patty Flakes.” The young star’s on-field success has translated to endorsement offers off the field, his agent, Leigh Steinberg, told the Bloomberg Business of Sports podcast.
Mahomes was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated in November and is viewed as one of the favorites to be named league MVP. This popularity has attracted offers in the $500,000 range to endorse products in the automotive, apparel and beverage industries, Steinberg said. The agent also mentioned that his client’s love of ketchup has attracted calls from condiment companies looking for Mahomes to promote their product.
Steinberg said that he did not accept any endorsement deals before the young quarterback proved himself on the field. Now that Mahomes is a budding star in Kansas City, his agent says, he will be featured in more endorsement deals after the NFL season ends.
