Terracon, an engineering consulting firm based in suburban Kansas City, announced it has acquired St. John-Mittelhauser & Associates (SMA), an environmental consulting firm with an office in the St. Louis area. The deal marks Terracon’s sixth acquisition since the beginning of 2017.
Terracon officials hope the purchase will enhance the company’s environmental services in the Midwest. Both Terracon and SMA have existing offices in St. Louis and throughout the region.
“SMA’s environmental consulting capabilities complement and align with our environmental service offerings in the Midwest and nationally,” Terracon president Gayle Packer said in a press release. “Their expertise and depth of experience with clients in Indiana and Illinois enhances our presence in the region.”
Terracon, based in Olathe, Kansas, now employs more than 4,000 individuals in 140 offices across all 50 states. The Engineering News-Record ranked Terracon 24th on its 2018 list the Top 500 design firms.
