Cerner snags substantial VA contract from rival

Cerner has scored an additional contract from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that was previously awarded to a top competitor, the Kansas City Business Journal reports.

Back on Dec. 20, the VA terminated its 2015 contract with Epic Systems and Leidos Holdings in favor of Cerner’s patient scheduling system, the Business Journal reports.

While it is unclear how much the new contract is worth for North Kansas City-based Cerner, the 2015 Epic contract was valued at $624 million.

In a letter informing Congress of its plans, the VA said Cerner’s deployment of its scheduling technology will be fast-tracked, the Business Journal reports.
