Rental bicycles will soon be removed from St. Louis as Lime focuses on its more popular electric scooter operation in the region. The California-based transportation company said area customers prefer the scooters.
The transition will take place in the coming weeks, a spokesperson said.
The bike market went through a rapid devolution in the St. Louis area after bicycles made their debut last spring. Lime rival Ofo withdrew within months of entering the market, and Lime eventually introduced its electric scooters, which surpassed the bikes in popularity.
Bicycles will not completely leave the St. Louis cityscape, though. A city commissioner said Lime plans to offer electric-assist bikes for rent later this year.
