Garmin is expanding its presence in the health and fitness market with the acquisition of a Dutch manufacturer for an undisclosed sum, the company announced Tuesday.
The deal, set to close in the second quarter, would add Tacx Onroerend en Roerend Goed BV, known as Tacx, to the existing lineup of fitness accessories offered by Lenexa, Kansas-based Garmin.
Tacx specializes in indoor bike trainers, training software, and accessories.
“Tacx brings an entirely new product category to Garmin’s fitness portfolio that expands our reach into the indoor training market,” Garmin president and CEO Cliff Pemble said in a news release.
The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of this year, according to the release.
