Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver met with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Tuesday about Libra, the cryptocurrency Facebook plans to roll out in 2020. The Democrat said he’s worried “Libra will further the development of terror cells and money laundering.”
Facebook concern is bipartisan in Missouri. Republican Sen. Josh Hawley has been described as a big tech watchdog.
Hawley met with Zuckerberg last month, urging Facebook to sell Instagram and WhatsApp to show the company values privacy. Hawley said Zuckerberg was “not receptive” to the idea.
