St. Louis Builder Gets $56 Million VA Contract



The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. a $56 million energy plant and utility infrastructure project at Jefferson Barracks in south St. Louis County.

The project includes installing a new primary electrical substation, the demolition of multiple structures and major utility infrastructure upgrades such as steam, chilled water, power and low voltage distribution systems. McCarthy is the largest commercial builder in the area.

The VA at Jefferson Barracks provides psychiatric treatment, a nursing home care unit, geriatric health care, rehabilitation services and a rehabilitation domiciliary program for homeless veterans.
