St. Louis Airport’s Economic Impact Drops Over Decade



Lambert-St. Louis International Airport has lost some of its dollar value to the region’s economy since the airport’s final days as a bustling passenger hub. A new economic impact study concluded that the airport generates about $3.6 billion a year in business revenue for the 16-county metropolitan statistical area. A 2000 study concluded the airport’s impact was significantly more than that, although Lambert officials said it would be difficult to compare the findings of the two studies.
