St. Louis Firm In Egypt Affected By Violence

Alarmed at the political upheaval in Egypt that has turned lethal, Monsanto, based in St. Louis, has asked its 20 employees in Egypt to work temporarily from home as a precaution.

A senior at the University of Missouri-St. Louis who is studying in Cairo on a scholarship said gunfire could be heard in the neighborhood next to hers. UMSL and the U.S. Embassy have told the student to leave. On Thursday, the embassy, which has temporarily closed, formally asked all American citizens to leave Egypt.
