The Missouri Public Service Commission announced it will investigate rebate payment practices of Kansas City Power & Light and Ameren Missouri. The investigations are due to customer complaints that the utilities have taken longer than the maximum 30 days to pay back solar rebates
In 2008, a voter-approved renewable energy law was passed, which included the solar rebate program. As part of the program, utilities were required to pay rebates to customers who installed solar panels. By late last year, Ameren customers had used up all program funds. To receive a full rebate, the projects had to be completed by the end of June.
