Monsanto, DuPont reach settlement in patent suits

Monsanto Co. and DuPont Co. have reached a settlement over patent infringement lawsuits that will end a recent run of dueling litigation between the two seed companies. Upon dismissal of the suits, the companies will have no other pending litigation against each other.

Creve Coeur-based Monsanto had sued DuPont alleging the company had infringed on Monsanto’s seed chipping technology, which allows small pieces of seeds to be extracted for analysis without killing the seed embryo.

DuPont’s suit had accused Monsanto of infringing on patents related to seed processing.
