RadioShack closing leaves openings for new businesses

After the early February announcement that RadioShack will be closing or selling all of its stores, it looks like the locations will receive a quick turn around. The turnover will release approximately 4,000 stores nationwide.

Hedge fund Standard General has offered a bid of $200 million to acquire 2,000 of the stores for a partnership with Sprint.

In St. Louis, 30 of the 40 company-owned stores will be closed by the end of March.

But commercial real estate experts in St. Louis say the stores will quickly be bought by other businesses that are looking for the strip mall spaces that RadioShack will leave behind.
