Officials from Aramark — the company that operates concessions at Kauffman and Arrowhead stadiums in Kansas City — visited Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday to address food safety concerns following the company’s second public issue with food quality at the stadiums in the last several months.
A $1 hot dog promotion at Friday’s Royals game went awry for Aramark when some fans were served soggy or blackened hot dogs. Many took to social media to post photos, and some national outlets picked up the story.
That followed an incident last fall in which a former Aramark employee took his concerns about food safety at the stadiums to the city and the media.
On Tuesday, company officials worked to assuage doubts about food safety at its 70 Kauffman Stadium concession stands, providing a tour of a kitchen and concession stand and highlighting changes Aramark made to avoid health code violations.
