Appraisal company, bond counsel firms picked for KC convention hotel

Kansas City’s Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority has approved bond counsel firms and an appraisal company for the city’s downtown convention hotel project.

Two law firms, Omaha, Neb.-based Kutak Rock and Kansas City-based Harwick, will serve as the project’s bond counsel firms.

The Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LRCA) also selected Kansas City’s Bliss Associates to provide appraisal services related to the acquisition of property for the 800-room hotel, which is expected to cost $311 million.

Previously, the LCRA signed a contract with Stifel Nicolaus & Co. to underwrite bonds for the project. The authority is expected to issue up to $160 million in bonds for the development.
