Boulevard Brewing Company will open a new warehouse and distribution center in south Kansas City that will nearly triple the size of its existing warehouse, the brewery announced Thursday in a release.

Kansas City-based Boulevard, one of the largest specialty brewers in the Midwest, will lease 182,000 square feet of space at the Three Trails Industrial Park. For the last eight years, a 64,000-square-foot facility in Kansas City’s East Bottoms has served as the brewer’s distribution hub.

The new facility will house all of the brewer’s finished beer, along with an aging cellar and space for a bottling line for its Smokestack Series beers, according to the release.

Jeff Krum, Boulevard’s vice president of corporate affairs, said the new space will help address a growing need for the brewer.

“We’ve been bursting at the seams for quite a while,” Krum said in the release. “This should give us breathing room for at least the next decade.”

Boulevard currently distributes to 32 states and the District of Columbia. In 2016, the company plans to expand distribution to Arizona, Kentucky, Michigan, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Delaware.
