Plans expand for Midtown Kansas City redevelopment

The Kansas City Plan Commission on Tuesday approved the addition of more residential units to a redevelopment plan targeting an 18.4-acre site just south of Crown Center.

The development team of Milhaus, an Indianapolis company specializing in neighborhood infill development, and Kansas City-based UC-B Properties is buying land from Crown Center Redevelopment Corp. to expand the 400-unit project.

The new plan adds a mix of market-rate apartments, townhomes and condominiums along McGee Trafficway.

The revised plan also combines two existing tax abatement planning areas previously authorized for the Union Hill and Crown Center areas into a single Planned Industrial Expansion area to be known as 27th and McGee.
