MU nursing school receives $19.8 million grant for elderly care research

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded a $19.8 million federal grant to the University of Missouri’s Sinclair School of Nursing Wednesday, in order to help the school expand its efforts to reduce hospitalizations in nursing homes.

The existing efforts have focused on helping nursing home residents avoid falls by installing motion sensors in residents’ rooms.

The Nursing School will use the grant to research early detection of illnesses and interventions in coordinated care.
