The University of Missouri’s Center for the Digital Globe hosted its 6th annual media business plan competition in Columbia Friday morning. The winner of the finale was 14ymedio, the first independent digital media outlet in Cuba.
Four student teams presented their final business plans to their respective clients during the symposium. Each team worked with one of four professional clients – StoryUp, The Associated Press, the Missouri Press Association and 14ymedio – throughout the semester to create a sustainable business model surrounding content creation.
Three guest judges critiqued the presentation and provided feedback to the teams. Judges included:
- Kelsey Meyer, co-founder of Influence & Co.
- Andy Waters, General Manager of the Columbia Daily Tribune
- Mary Druce, local entrepreneur
