The University of Missouri will receive $3.15 million in equipment, apparel and cash this school year through its athletic department’s contract with Nike. The amount MU will make from its contract ranks 10th of the 11 Southeastern Conference schools for which apparel contracts are available, according to an analysis by the Portland Business Journal.
South Carolina leads the SEC with its deal with Under Armour, valued at $8.7 million. Texas A&M, which has a deal with Adidas, is next at $6.7 million.
MU’s contract with Nike calls for $3 million in equipment and apparel and another $150,000 in cash.
Athletic apparel giants Nike, Adidas and Under Armour will spend more than $300 million on such deals this year, the Portland Business Journal reports, marking an increase of about 33 percent over the last five years.
