Boeing CEO ramps up rhetoric on Mars race

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg on Tuesday said he believes the first person to step foot on Mars will “arrive there riding on a Boeing rocket.”

Muilenburg’s comments come just a few days after Elon Musk, the billionaire tech mogul who founded Tesla and SpaceX, a company dedicated to developing space technology, announced his plans to shuttle humans to Mars by 2025.

Boeing, which has its Defense, Space & Security headquarters in Hazelwood, is developing a rocket for NASA, which has plans to visit Mars by the 2030s. NASA is spending about $60 billion on the effort, according to Ars Technica.
