Struggling Homeowners Can Get Refi Help in St. Louis



The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America will be in St. Louis from Friday to Tuesday to help struggling citizens refinance their mortgages.

The Boston-based nonprofit, which offers mortgage modifications and low-interest home loans will be at the Chaifetz Arena.

The organizations is known for its tenacity. As a result of political pressure, NACA has cut deals with major lenders such as Citi, Wells Fargo and Bank of America.

But some people say the organization promises too much.

“The reality is that you don’t get foreclosure modification in one day, and that’s what they’re claiming,” Chris Krehmeyer president of Beyond Housing, one of several St. Louis-based agencies that also provides free mortgage counseling said in an interview with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
