Production of F-150 pickup trucks at Ford’s plant in the Kansas City area is expected to resume by week’s end. Operations have been interrupted since a fire caused major damage to a parts supplier in Michigan more than a week ago.
That left 3,600 union workers at the plant idled, and it rendered Ford temporarily unable to produce the best-selling vehicle in the U.S.
Earlier reports suggested it would take up to three weeks to restore normal operations at the plant.
The plant’s 3,800 workers who make the Ford Transit van were not affected by the shutdown.
