Washington University, Truman State earn state’s top marks in U.S. News ranking



Washington University in St. Louis tied for 19th among “national universities” in the annual Best Colleges rankings published by U.S. News and World Report. That’s down one spot from last year’s list but still represents the top ranking of any Missouri institution on the list for national universities, defined as offering a “full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and Ph.D. programs.”

The rankings are based on factors that indicate academic quality, such as “graduation rates and faculty resources,” according to U.S. News.

St. Louis University and the University of Missouri in Columbia were the only other universities in the state to rank among the top 150 on the national universities list. Here’s the entire contingent:

Several Missouri schools ranked near the top of the U.S. News list for “regional universities” in the Midwest. Truman State University topped the local contingent at No. 9. Rockhurst University and Webster University followed in a tie for 23rd, and Drury University tied for No. 29.
