St. Louis grocer Dierbergs plans to hire 220 across region

St. Louis-based grocery chain Dierbergs Markets plans to hire about 220 full- and part-time workers for its 24 stores in the area.

The supermarket chain is holding a hiring event Friday in Chesterfield, and it plans to offer hiring bonuses of $400 for select positions, according to a press release.

The hiring push comes at a busy time for the St. Louis grocery sector. Schnuck Markets Inc., another grocery chain based in the area, announced this week it is acquiring 19 stores owned by Shop ‘n Save, a third local supermarket operator.

Dierbergs management alluded to that in announcing its hiring efforts.

“Given the amount of change in the St. Louis grocery market right now, we want job seekers to know Dierbergs is looking for great people to come work for our hometown store,” Greg Dierberg, the grocery chain’s president and CEO, said in the release.
