House gives initial approval to financial exploitation bill

The Missouri House has given initial approval to a bill designed to protect some of the state’s most vulnerable residents from financial exploitation.

The bill, called the Senior Savings Protection Act, would allow financial agents to stop the dispersal of money in cases of suspected financial exploitation. It would apply specifically to individuals aged 60 years or older, or individuals between 18 and 59 who have disabilities.

The Senate already has approved similar legislation.
