Ben Unglesbee earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and creative writing from the University of Kansas before going on to graduate school at the University of Missouri, where he earned a master’s in journalism in 2013. He was part of the first editorial team at the Missouri Business Alert in the summer of 2012 and freelanced for the publication until graduation. After graduating from Mizzou, he interned at the Kansas City Star’s business desk. From there, he went to work for the Lawrence Journal-World, where he covered higher education and agriculture. Since July 2014, Unglesbee has worked at the St. Louis Business Journal covering retail, agribusiness and Ferguson. His stories for the Journal-World and the Star‘s 913 magazine have won first-place awards from the Kansas Press Association and Kansas City Press Club, respectively. His work has also appeared in Harvest Public Media and the magazine Missouri Life.
