Cecilia Salamone was one of our most influential reporters of the Missouri Business Alert in 2016. Although she is no longer an employee here at MBA, her influence still remains today. We asked Cecilia a couple of questions regarding her time at MBA. See her answers below.
Why were you interested in working at MBA?
“I was a graduate student at Mizzou, and was looking for summer job opportunities in Columbia. I didn’t have any prior experience with business journalism, but decided I would give it a try in the hopes of expanding my skill set and learning something new.”
What do you think MBA offers to the business community?
“I think MBA is a great, comprehensive news source for business communities throughout Missouri, and is especially important to businesses in Columbia and mid-Missouri.”
What skills did you learn at MBA that you still use in your daily career and/or helped you advance your career?
“I got a good sense of what a business story looks like and how to write one, but more importantly, I discovered my interest in business journalism.”
What is your favorite memory of working at MBA?
“My coworkers were awesome, and I genuinely looked forward to coming to work each day. Also, many snacks were had.”
Now that MBA is 5 years old and still progressing every day, what do you hope to see for the future of MBA?
“I hope MBA is able to expand its presence and increase its readership throughout the state.”
Thank you again, Cecilia, for your contributions to MBA. You’ve helped us become the reliable business outlet that we are today.
