The October seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate in Missouri was 3.1%, according to a report from the Department of Economic Development. The number grew one-tenth of a percentage point compared to October 2018 but remained the same as September 2019.
Seasonally adjusted non-farm employment in Missouri was more than 2.9 million, up 1.2% from last year.
In the private sector, educational services saw the largest percentage growth from October 2018, increasing by 4.1% to 56,000. Employment in professional, scientific and technical services was 169,100, increasing by 3.1% from last year.
Conversely, employment in mining and logging dropped by 4.5% when compared with last October. The decrease of 200 jobs brought employment down to 4,200 in the sector. Wholesale trade saw employment decline about 2.2% from a year ago.
