Google searches show increased interest from St. Louis consumers

Google searches show St. Louis residents are optimistic about the economy, the St. Louis Business Journal reports.

As businesses across the country reopen, consumers are showing a willingness to spend, according to Google Trends data.

Searches for phrases like “new car,” “homes for sale,” and “vacation” are up since hitting lows in March and April. St. Louis-area searches for “Ford F-150” were at a 12-month high the week of June 14-20.

“Surgery” searches have also bounced back to pre-pandemic levels.

The data may signal St. Louisans are ready to resume both leisure and essential spending they put off during the economic shutdown.
