Kansas City Jobless Rate Rises

The unemployment rate in Kansas City has increased by half a percent since December and is now sitting at 6.9 percent.

The government and manufacturing sectors saw the largest losses in employment, losing 1,500 and 1,000 jobs respectively. The losses have occurred on the Missouri side of Kansas City.

The Kansas side of Kansas City gained 10,500 jobs over the year, while the Missouri side has lost 2,200 jobs since January 2012, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
