Missouri’s population grew by just 20,000 people from 2012 to 2013, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, or about one-third of a percent. Nationally, the population grew by 0.7 percent during that period.
From 2010 to 2013, Missouri’s population grew 0.9 percent. Only 10 states saw slower growth during that period, according to the Census Bureau. Maine and West Virginia were the only states to lose population during that period. North Dakota was the fastest-growing state; its population rose 3.1 percent.
