Weekly Unemployment: US Claims Climb, Missouri Numbers Drop

Nationwide seasonally adjusted claims for unemployment edged up .1 of a percentage point over the previous week during the period ending April 26, according to figures released Thurdsay by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The seasonally adjusted number of claims for the week was 344,000, according to the bureau, up 14,000 from the previous week’s adjusted figure of 330,000 claims. Claims were down 27,000 compared to the same week one year ago, according to the release.

For the week ending April 19, Missouri had 5,141 initial claims for unemployment, down 788 from the previous week and down 881 from the previous year.
