Unemployment Rate Drops in Missouri Metropolitan Areas

The unemployment rate in all of Missouri’s metropolitan areas decreased in April, and only St. Louis remains above 6 percent, according to statistics released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Approximately 5.9 percent of Missouri’s labor force was unemployed in April, down from 6.1 percent in March and 7.4 percent in April of 2013, the government agency reported Wednesday.  There are 3.02 million people in Missourian’s civilian labor force, and about 178,000 were recorded as jobless in April.
