Missouri Cities Among Cheapest To Live In U.S.

Jefferson City is the second-cheapest place to live in the United States, behind Danville, Illinois, with costs 19 percent lower than the national average.  The area encompassing Cape Girardeau, Mo. and parts of Illinois across the Mississippi River ranked 7th cheapest. The St. Louis area’s cost of living is about 11.1 percent below the national average, and Kansas City is 7.3 percent below average, putting it at No. 202 in the ranking. Columbia was at 217, Springfield at 304, and Joplin at 335.
