The St. Louis Minority Business Council said its corporate members increased spending directed to local minority-owned businesses by $1.4 billion over the past three years. That surpassed the council’s original goal, set in 2011, of $1 billion for the three-year period ending in June.

The increased spending has allowed minority-owned businesses to increase their growth, adding 2,193 permanent new jobs, according the council.

The minority council also said it is establishing a partnership with the St. Louis Regional Chamber and picked a new CEO.
