Study: 1.2 million Missourians receiving food aid

A new study released by Feeding America reveals that nearly 1.2 million Missouri residents use food closets, food kitchens and other resources for food.

Among those using Feeding America resources, 97 percent are not homeless or living in temporary housing, and approximately 70 percent are white.

In addition to exposing the growing demand Missouri food pantries face, the study also shatters stereotypes about those who receive food assistance, Missouri Food Bank Association spokesman Monica Palmer said.
