Kansas City, St. Louis rank among nation’s most affluent metro areas

The Kansas City and St. Louis metro areas are in the top 15 percent of a ranking of the most affluent metropolitan and micropolitan areas in the U.S.

The Business Journals ranked the nation’s most affluent areas using criteria such as adults with bachelor’s and advanced degrees, poverty rate, household income and median house value. With a median household income north of $54,000, St. Louis ranked 144th out of 942 metro and micro areas. Kansas City was No. 110, with a median home value of more than $223,000.
