Pete Fullerton has resigned from his role as CEO of the Economic Development Corp. of Kansas City, according to a news release from Mayor Sly James’ office. Fullerton, who has served as the head of the economic development agency since 2012, is “moving on to a different career opportunity in the region,” according to the release.
Bob Langenkamp, assistant city manager and director of planning and development for Kansas City, will serve as interim president and CEO of the EDC.
The organization oversees six redevelopment agencies and serves as Kansas City’s liaison to the business and economic development communities.
According to a Kansas City Business Journal report, the EDC has faced questions about delays in an annual audit of its finances, and a board member of the Tax Increment Financing Commission of Kansas City said the organization has a “transparency issue.”
