#FergusonRebuild, an initiative created by Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander to provide grants to businesses in Ferguson, has raised more than $130,000 toward its goal of $150,000 to help with the recovery process in the St. Louis suburb.
The program, launched last week in partnership with the Reinvest North County Fund, reported $55,000 in “offline contributions” and more than $35,000 via crowfunding website GoFundMe as of Monday morning. Additionally, Kander said in a tweet posted Friday afternoon that the St. Louis Rams would contribute $50,000 to the cause.
Small businesses affected by vandalism and looting in the St. Louis suburb in August or November are eligible for the grant funding, which can be put toward construction, rent, utilities, payroll and inventory. To receive the grant money, businesses must agree to rebuild or remain in their current locations.
