Missouri Chamber unveils plan to address sluggish economic growth

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday introduced a 15-year strategic plan, called Missouri 2030, aimed at creating and training the state’s workforce for the “jobs of the future.” The move comes in response to sagging economic indicators in the state over the last decade.

According to the plan, the Missouri Chamber Foundation will provide research and data; advocate for legislative initiatives and market-based initiatives; provide grassroot support on certain issues; and influence the state legislature’s “pro-jobs makeup.”

The chamber said Missouri ranked 42nd among U.S. states in employment growth between 2004 and 2014. And the state was 43rd in GDP growth between 2003 and 2013, according to Bureau of Economic Analysis data.
