Missouri’s minimum-wage workers can look forward to a 5-cent raise on Jan. 1.
The state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations won’t officially announce the 2017 minimum wage until this fall, but the inflation numbers used in the calculation were released last week.
The Missouri minimum wage has been at $7.65 an hour since 2015; it didn’t increase this year. Based on the latest inflation reading, it should go to $7.70 next year.
Missouri voters decided in 2006 that the minimum wage should be adjusted annually for inflation. Missouri is one of 29 states with a wage floor higher than the federal minimum of $7.25 an hour.
