KC auto sales software startup BacklotCars raises $8 million

BacklotCars, a Kansas City-based startup that makes software designed to help car dealers buy automobiles wholesale, has raised $8 million in a Series A funding round.

Origin Ventures led the round. Other participants included Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, Pritzker Group Venture Capital, KCRise Fund, Royal Street Ventures, Chaifetz Group and other undisclosed investors.

The funding comes as the startup is growing rapidly in its existing markets and looking to add new features to its platform, CEO Justin Davis said.

Founded two years ago, the company now operates in more than 18 states.
