Ryan Bell plans to build his company in St. Louis, even if he has to move to California to do so.
Bell is the founder of Gremln, which develops social media tools for businesses. He’s visited with potential Silicon Valley investors several times, and they always hint that they would like a senior person – probably him – nearby.
“I’ve said that I’m willing to personally move to San Francisco to facilitate that conversation and make sure that my investors are comfortable with the progress the company is making,” Bell says. “I do draw the line at the fact that Gremln is a St. Louis based company. The team is here, and that’s not going to change.”
If he moves west, Gremln would join several promising St. Louis technology companies that are based in St. Louis but have an office, and often a top executive, in or near Silicon Valley.
